PROUD TO SUPPORT
OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY
Since 2020, Helping Hearts has been dedicated to alleviating poverty within the Fylde Coast community. With the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, we have seen a sharp increase in the demand for our service by 600%.
Helping Hearts began on the streets of Blackpool, offering outreach to the town's rough sleeping community, hot food and drinks, clean and dry clothing, but most importantly, a caring ear, willing to listen and help.
As the demand for the service grew, Helping Hearts needed to adapt and find its own community hub to offer a complete wraparound service without question.
From humble beginnings on the streets of Blackpool to now, Helping Hearts community is now a non-referral service that serves over 170 people each Thursday, offering a Foodbank and pantry, a Pet bank, a Baby bank, clothing bank.
Thanks to kind donations, Helping Hearts has been able to expand our outreach to offer crisis support, emergency accommodation, mental health counselling and SEWP provision.
Andrew Mills- Chair of Helping Hearts, said:
“Our charity has evolved to offer a full wraparound service to homeless people, families, the lonely and the elderly, with currently over 170 people accessing our services every week. We have very exciting plans for the future, and the King’s award will be a huge help in our evolution, as we develop our services to help more disadvantaged people in more ways.”
Helping Hearts is a fully volunteer-led charity and is privileged to have such a dedicated team whose care and compassion make us who we are today
Millie Happs – Volunteer said:
“I can directly help those who are struggling and see the difference it makes. It’s rewarding to know that sorting donations, packing parcels, or simply offering a smile can bring comfort to someone’s day. Volunteering has also made me more grateful for what I have and opened my eyes to how small actions can create a big impact. It’s about kindness, community, and helping others without expecting anything in return.”
Our overall vision is to drive the service through continual improvement and longevity, offering full support without question, anywhere on the Fylde.
